What ratings are used?
Unofficial, regular, established ratings as made available by the US Chess Federation. Unofficial ratings are used because official ratings are only updated once per month, and the intent of this site is to provide a chess club leaderboard that reflects current standings after each club tournament. Provisional ratings do not count towards upsets and are not displayed on any leaderboard. Quick chess ratings are ignored and wins in quick-chess-only events do not count toward the wins or games total. For official/provisional/quick or other USCF ratings visit the USCF at www.USChess.org.
Are all tournaments for an affiliate imported?
No. Quick Chess tournaments are not imported as only regular ratings are used here. Tournaments with over 100 players are not imported as these are most likely not a club event.
Why do some leaderboards require a minimum number of games?
This is done to prevent the leaderboard from being cluttered with one-time visitors and players who no longer participate in the club.
How often is the leaderboard updated?
Results from the most recent tournament will be included within a few hours of the results being available on www.uschess.org. Some tournament directors submit games to the USCF for rating the same day of the tournament, others may wait weeks before submitting results.
Why is there a list of events to be imported at the bottom of the screen?
Purple Rook does not attempt to download hundreds of tournament results for a USCF affiliate at one time. One or two tournaments are imported for an affiliate each time someone visits that club's leaderboard. The most recent tournaments are imported first, and history for the hall-of-fame pages builds as players visit Purple Rook to view the club leaderboard.
Can a club be added that is not listed?
Yes. Look up the club's Affiliate ID on www.USChess.org (or ask your organizer), then enter the ID on the Purple Rook home page.
Where can I find a USCF Affiliated club?
www.USChess.org has a list of clubs in your area. They also have information on how to start your own affiliate and direct tournaments if you would like to start your own club.
How do I link to Purple Rook from my club's website?
Use the following HTML, but replace the bolded value with your club's affiliate ID:
